Underground and Underwater

Dear Families,
We are now fully into the Spring mode and the children have enjoyed being outdoors to play in the fresh air. Last week, the kids did a great job learning about garage tools and kitchen tools. Don't be surprised if you see your child fixing something with the wrench or whipping up something tasty in the food processor!
We now will have another learning adventure by digging down deep and plunging into the deep waters to make new discoveries!
Here is a Peek at the next two weeks:

Week One: Underground
Monday- We will bury things in the dirt and do explorations by digging to uncover surprises!

Tuesday- We will make play-doh and create an ant hill.

Wednesday- We will be learning about earthworms and looking at real worms in a large group activity.

Thursday- We will make some adorable groundhog finger puppets.

Friday-We will make a tasty snack; ants on a log with celery and cream cheese.

Week Two: Underwater
Monday- We will do a little science experiment and discover things that sink and things that float.

Tuesday- We will make a beautiful ocean complete with fish, sand, shells, ocean animals and boats.

Wednesday- We will create a silly octopus.

Thursday- Yummy! Another tasty treat! Ocean Blue
Jell-O !

Friday- Erika O. will teach the kids all about scuba diving.

Vocabulary will include these words: submarine, subway, starfish, crab, octopus, scuba diver, ocean, wave, ant farm, lobster, sand, dirt, tentacles, groundhog, earthworm, digging, underground

Show and Tell
The children really get so much language from the Show and Tell experience. This is an important time of their day as they are so proud to be able to give clues and have the other children guess and ask questions. Thanks for being responsible to have your child bring in thematic items.
For the first week, please have your child bring in things that have to do with underground. This could be a shovel for digging, plastic bugs, a seed packet, rubber worms etc. or books that relate to this theme.
For week two, please have your child bring in items that have to do with underwater. Plastic fish, toy scuba divers, shells, etc. or books about the sea.

Monday- Sanjay and Deyon
Tuesday- Linnea and Ella
Wednesday- Sadie and Levi
Thanks again for being an integral part of your child's education!
